Collection: Delco

Delco Electronics was General Motors' automotive electronics subsidiary, based in Kokomo, Indiana. Its radio operation produced a hybrid tube-and-transistor car radio in early 1956, and its first germanium PNP power transistors, the 2N173 and 2N174, followed that same year. By the early 1970s Delco was a major supplier of automotive electronics, employing more than 30,000 people at its peak. In 1985 GM merged Delco Electronics with Hughes Aircraft to form GM Hughes Electronics, and in 1997 its commercial operations moved to Delphi Automotive Systems.
